Student and Teacher Writing Rubric (Using 6-Trait Model as a Guide)

Standard Score (3) and Above Standard /Score (4)

 

Content/Ideas:

**Has an interesting main idea and sticks to it.

**Interesting information and examples help the reader see the point.

Organization (Word Choice, Sentence Fluency):

**It's clear that the writing follows a plan (Clear beginning, middle and end)

**The writing sounds smooth when read.

**Uses vivid verbs and specific nouns.

**Sentences vary in type and length.

Style (Voice):

**Person behind the words is clear and sounds right for the purpose of writing.

Conventions (spelling, punctuation, grammar, paragraphs, capital letters): **Sentences are complete and correct.

**Spelling is nearly perfect.
