Spelling Groups & Words
Spelling Tests and Pretests are given on Tuesdays.
WEEKLY SPELLING PRACTICE
Dear Families:
Students have different strengths and interests as learners and benefit from lots of different ways to learn to spell. Here is a list of some different ways for you to practice your child’s spelling words with him/her at home. Please have the student write the two ways practiced in his/her homework notebook. Thank you.
________ Take an oral practice test.
________ Take a written practice test.
________ Create a power point presentation with your spelling words.
________ Put your spelling words in ABC order.
________ Create rhythm and rap your words out loud (record yourself doing this).
________ Create a song with your spelling words, sing it out loud over and over.
________ Make up rhymes using your words.
________ Type or draw your words on the computer.
________ Smooth out shaving cream, sand, coffee, or flour to spell the words.
________ Write your words using rainbow colors.
________ Dribble a ball, jump rope or some other kind of exercise while spelling your words.
________ Write your spelling words five times each.
________ Tape record yourself spelling your words and then listen to yourself.
________ Make a movie of you spelling your words.
________ Fingerspell your words to an adult (Write on the back of someone or in the air.).
________ Other (Make up your own way.).
