ON THE TOPIC OF HOMEWORK

Purpose of Homework

1.                 Practice skills and concepts being learned.

2.                 Facilitate responsibility, accountability, self-discipline, independence, perseverance and time-management.

The table below outlines the different roles for each person.

**Provide a designated place.

**Provide a designated time.

**Provide necessary materials.

**Provide limited assistance.

**Establish logical consequences for non-compliance AND follow through.

**Keep track of books and assignments.

**Start on time and allow enough time to finish work.

**Do his/her OWN WORK with limited assistance.

**Turn work in ON TIME.

**Accept responsibility for grades or other consequences.

**Provide instruction and directions.

**Provide materials.

**Provide deadlines.

**Provide encouragement.

**Provide feedback for work.
